I was tagged by Moneymonk to share with everyone seven random things about myself. So here goes:
- My family was on Family Feud. Seriously. I was little, but my mom, my grandfather, two uncles, and an aunt were five-day champions on the show approximately 20 years ago (way before the Home Improvement guy became host). They never managed to win the last part where two contestants try to get 200 points though.
- I'm the oldest of four girls in my family, and all of us were born in just over 6 years. My poor dad is therefore pretty much insane. We even had two female dogs growing up. Ha ha. Poor dad. BTW all four of us currently live in different states! The other three are in college though.
- One of my goals is to go abroad each year to do volunteer work.
I spent a week in Lima, Peru this past March. It was really incredible. I found this company online called Cross Cultural Solutions and just signed up! I didn't know anyone, but it was such a great experience! We worked in a senior center of sorts, feeding and helping elderly people who live in absolute poverty (defined as a family of 4 or more living on less than one US dollar a day). We also mended some of their roofs, and their living situations are unbelievable. They live in shantys with no floor or real walls, and many don't have running water. But most have televisions and watch American TV!! Plus there were very cheap internet cafes on every "corner." Such an odd situation. - I really really want to take up yoga. I've been to a handful of classes over the last year, and I think I'd reap some serious benefits if I developed a practice. The cost of yoga studio memberships has kept me away, but I've taken big steps towards this goal lately: I recently expanded my gym membership to include locations with more than enough yoga classes, and this past weekend I bought a yoga mat! Now I just have to make it to a class...
- I really like expensive clothes. If I had the money I would dress myself primarily from Hugo Boss and Donna Karen. Both those brands make clothes that fit--and complement!--my figure perfectly. Unfortunately I have no business owning either of those brands. *Sigh* In fact the only time I've tried on a Donna Karen outfit was by accident. I didn't realize what section of Nordstrom I was in, and I grabbed a nice looking suit and blouse and headed to the dressing room. I didn't like the suit, but the blouse was GORGEOUS. I just stood there staring at myself in the mirror; I'd never seen such a beautiful piece of clothing that framed me so perfectly...then I looked at the price. $182. "Not so bad," I thought. I stared some more. Then I looked again at the price. It actually said $1,820! I almost fell over.
- I drive a 2006 silver Volvo S60 sedan. I bought it used from my grandmother, who decided she didn't like it after owning it a couple of months.
- I love going to Las Vegas, especially with my family. Yep, I said family. My grandmother (not the one from #6) has been flying to Vegas 4x a year for the past 20 or 30 years. She always goes to the same place, and she's built up such a relationship with them that she and any of her guests get complimentary hotel rooms, limo service, food at any hotel restaurant, and tickets to shows. So my conservative parents actually took all of us to Vegas with my grandparents one year to save $$ on our family vacation. We had such a good time that we went back with them for several times over the years. Is it weird that for me, Las Vegas brings back happy childhood memories with my family...?
That's it! Wow-I'm more interesting than I thought! :-) I hereby tag Well-Heeled and Don't Mess With Taxes.

Omg! haha! I love the family feud bit. That's awesome.
I'm one of four girls too! I'm the third one, which also makes me the weird one (according to my sisters). We watched Little Women a lot growing up...and also had 2 female dogs...and my Dad is one of the most sensitive men you'll ever meet.
I'm one of 3 girls! We also had a female dog...and two female gerbils...hm...my dad was totally out numbered!
That's pretty cool about family feud. It'd be fun to participate in a TV game show one day.
Very interesting! Thanks for the tag. I'm giving it some thought now.
